Description
Terracotta warrior. This figure was part of a full army of life-size terracotta warriors created to guard the tomb of Quin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, who died in 210 BC. The 8000 soldiers, 130 chariots, 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses were intended to help Qin Shi rule another empire in the afterlife. Each individual figure's face is unique, and the figures were originally painted bright colours. The tomb was discovered by farmers digging a well in 1974.
